The Role of the Best Man / Man of Honour

  • Runs errands during the engagement and on the wedding day as needed.
  • Pays for his own attire, attends fittings.
  • May arrange a bachelor party and/or buck and doe, alone or together with the other Groomsmen.
  • Gives gift to the wedding couple.
  • Attends the wedding rehearsal to get familiarized with the wedding ceremony proceedings and seating arrangements.
  • Attends the rehearsal dinner.
  • May help the Groom get ready for the ceremony if needed.
  • Wear boutonniere on left side of lapel.
  • Drives the Groom to the ceremony on time.
  • Makes sure the marriage licence is brought to place of ceremony.
  • Keeps any needed payments for wedding day expenses and delivers them accordingly.
  • May hold the Bride's ring until the ring exchange at the wedding ceremony if needed.
  • Escort the Maid of Honour throughout the ceremony and wedding day as needed. Dances with her at the wedding reception during the song for the wedding party.
  • Signs the marriage licence as a witness.
  • May need to drive Bride, Groom and Maid of Honour to reception.
  • Makes a toast to the Bride and Groom at the reception.
  • May do other introductions at the reception if needed.
  • Helps with transporting the wedding gifts from reception if needed.
  • Has pictures taken with the wedding party.
  • May be required to stand in receiving line.
  • Sits at head table at the wedding reception.
  • Assist guests if needed.
  • Makes sure the Groom's going away clothes and bag for honeymoon are brought to place of reception.
  • Help with set-up and decorating if needed.
  • Help with clean up after the wedding reception if needed.
  • Helps Bride and Groom wherever needed before during and after wedding day.
  • Have a great time.
